In Washington, there are many beautiful things to admire, especially here in Yakima and the surrounding areas. Why not bring some of that beauty to your own home, so that every day you can be pleased with what you see when you look out the window?

Adding flowering trees to your landscaping and garden is the perfect way to do this. You can wake up and see your purple or white flowering trees while drinking your morning cup of caffeine.

Follow along to see what Colonial Lawn and Garden recommends when it comes to flowering trees in your yard. We can even take care of them for years to come.

The Crape Myrtle Tree

This isn’t the chocolate-filled pastry it sounds like! But it definitely catches your eye like a crepe would in the coffee shop. The flowers that it produces are a bright pink color, almost magenta with a little bit of red color that pops out every now ad then. For this tree, it is built like a large square, standing at eight feet tall and eight feet wide at full growth. The Crape Myrtle is great as an addition to your home, backyard, or front yard. If you are someone who spends a bit more time in your backyard, this would be such a delight to look at all summer. It is important to keep in mind that it does require a high level of sun exposure so it does need to be strategically placed to thrive.

The Flowering Dogwood Tree

A beautiful tree that produces white flowers. Interestingly enough, the technical name for this tree is Cornus Florida, but it is better known by the name of Flowering Dogwood. This particular tree can range anywhere from 15 to 25 feet in height, but only around four to six inches in diameter, which gives it a pretty unique look for a tree. Some of the largest Flowering Dogwoods have been measured at 40 feet tall and 12 to 18 inches in diameter, so you never can be quite sure of what you are going to get when you plant one! The flowers have a bright yellow middle that provides a nice contrast with the stark white of the petals, and it makes it a perfect tree to plant as a statement piece in your yard.

The Incredible Jacaranda Tree

This tree is bright, beautiful, purple, and it is just the eye-catching thing you need to brighten up your home. This tree is considered to be smaller than most, it usually only grows up to three or four feet tall at full growth, which makes it a perfect addition to the front of your home. The Jacaranda Tree will also give you quite a bit to look at for a longer period of time, as the deep purple flowers begin to bloom early on in the season. This tree is unique in its own way when the seasons start to change, it begins to change from its royal purple color to a bright, Easter yellow color, giving your landscaping a little new flair before the fall.
