Located in Yakima County, Selah Washington is a small city known for the fruit industry, with the Tree Top headquarters plus two processing plants located there. Over time, Selah is becoming a bedroom community to larger Yakima, with people wanting to get out of the increasingly crowded bigger city. Selah has plenty of interesting things to do, like any of the following destinations.
The Yakima Valley is known for its fruit industry, which includes vineyards and wineries. If you don't want to track down the different wineries yourself, this is the only dedicated wine tour company in the area. People come from around the world and ride the tour bus, but you can act like a tourist and have a great time. You'll learn more about wine and what makes the grapes in the valley unique, so you'll more greatly appreciate the local varieties.
Despite being small, Selah is home to two excellent golf courses. River Ridge has 9 holes and is a public course, making it perfect for when you want a quick round. It’s situated along the Yakima River, making for relaxing sights and sounds. Right next door is Elks Country Club. You need to be a member to play the 18-hole course, which is immaculately cared for.
More outdoor recreation opportunities come via the Yakima Greenway. It contains 10 miles of paved paths, which are perfect for jogging, cycling, or just going for a peaceful walk. The path goes by two fishing lakes you can try your luck at, plus four river access landings if you want to launch a craft into the water. Three public parks are also part of the Greenway, as are natural and protected areas, adding to the serene ambiance.
Located on the outskirts of the city, this is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Enjoy the beauty of nature, like plenty of cherry and apple trees blooming each spring. Deer and elk abound, a river adds to the valley’s interest, and you can track down quite a few interesting local restaurants and shops. People in the valley are also quite friendly, so you’ll enjoy each excursion to this area.
